Welcome to Cannabis For Seniors

This site is intended to provide information useful to seniors, who are one of the fastest growing groups of cannabis users.

Cannabis for recreational use became legal where I live in Canada, on October 1st, 2018. Since then I have been learning as much as I can about growing, harvesting and using this amazing plant and I will be sharing what I have learned with you.

Many other great sites (some are listed in the right hand column) are available for information about cannabis in general.

Cannabis and Marijuana: What is the Difference?

The term cannabis is a scientific one that refers to three species of plants (sativa, indica and ruderalis), including a form of cannabis sativa called hemp, which contains very little of the psychoactive cannabinoid THC. While the term applies to all forms of cannabis, its common usage is most often refers to cannabis that is used recreationally or medicinally. Hemp is also used as a source of CDB.

Marijuana is another name for the cannabis that is used recreationally or medically. Hemp is not considered to be marijuana.

"Our endocannabinoid system is really powerful, and that's why we shouldn't really play with it that much. A drug may be fine for one person, but it isn't for everyone. Dose matters. When we take it during development matters. We need to really understand what these drugs do to the brain, even if they ... have some medicinal benefits." (47:27)
